FAQs

1. Why isn’t the Stop Hate UK Helpline available nationwide?

We’re a small, independent charity, our 24/7 helpline isn’t funded by central government or major national grants. Instead, it’s made possible through partnerships with local councils, police services, businesses, and foundations who fund the service in their areas.
We’re committed to expanding our reach, and with continued support, we aim to provide our helpline more widely across the UK.

2. How do I report hate if I’m not in a funded area?

You can still report hate crimes directly to your local police force. We’re actively working to grow the availability of our services and would love your help to advocate for local support and funding in your area.

Additionally, please visit our National Organisations page to find national services that you can access.

3. Who can use the helpline?

Anyone who has experienced, witnessed, or is affected by hate, because of race, faith, disability, transgender identity, sexual orientation, age, or any other identity, can contact us.

4. How can I help Stop Hate UK expand its services?

You can support us by donating, fundraising, or partnering with us. Every contribution helps us support more communities and offer vital services like our helpline and education programmes.

5. Is your helpline really available 24/7?

Yes! Where our helpline is available, it operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It’s confidential, independent, and accessible by phone, text, email, webchat, online form, BSL and text relay.

6. Do you provide training for organisations?

Yes. We offer bespoke, specialist training on hate crime, discrimination, inclusion, and prevention strategies. It’s available to schools, businesses, local authorities, healthcare providers, and more.
